Explore Vietnam’s ancient capital and the inland Halong bay on a day trip from Hanoi. HoaLu TamCoc is a wonderful place with outstanding natural scenery.
Depart: 7:30 am Return: 5pm.
We drive 2 hours through the northern countryside from Hanoi to NinhBinh and on to TamCoc. On arrival in TamCoc, we embark on an open river sampan for a 3 hour cruise along the NgoDong river, flowing peacefully between the spectacular limestone mountain ranges. It is time to enjoy the wonders of nature and feeling the peace and quiet. There are a lot of corners for photos of great limestone Karst valley.
A Karst topography is a landscape formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone, dolomite, and gypsum. It is characterized by underground drainage systems with sinkholes, dolines, and caves. Erosion along limestone shores, notably in the tropics, produces karst topography that includes a sharp makatea surface above the normal reach of the sea and undercuts that are mostly the result of biological activity or bioerosion at or a little above mean sea level. Some of the most dramatic of these formations can be seen in Thailand’s Phangnga bay and Halong bay and Ninh Binh in Vietnam (also including TrangAn and TamCoc).
After lunch, we will drive along a wonderful route of this inland Halong bay through villages, rice fields and impressive limestone mountain Karst.
On arrival at HoaLu, the ancient capital city of Vietnam before 1010 AD, we will visit King Dinh and King Le temples, and discover an important piece of the country’s early history. Our tour ends at these temple and we will come back to Hanoi.
