Mekong Delta Cycling CaiBe
Tour Code: SBL10B.
About 105km from Sai Gon, Cai Be is well known as good land for orange and mango. The islands around Cai Be also have great rambutan, longan and durian. Interesting local handicrafts: rice paper, pop-sticky rice cake, manioc paper cake etc… and most famous one :the floating market open up every morning right in front of an old catholic church (built in 1939).
All of these sites can be seen in one day, however you need a bicycle to explore the fruit orchards on islands near Vinh Long town.
We depart at 7:30 AM and head south to the river town of Cai Be. Arriving at around 10 AM, we board our boat to journey through Cai Be’s floating market. Here, we will experience how life functions on the delta, as we view the intricacies of commerce – how merchants purchase products from farmers. We continue our journey down this vast stretch of the Mekong before cruising to other islands where we will start biking.
We go cycling about 12km under the green canopy, explore the orchards and daily life of farmers. These islands include 4 communes : Dong Phu, Hoa Ninh, An Binh and Binh Hoa Phuoc, great cycling route through these communes, see different kinds of fruit trees.
We will partake of seasonal fruits (such as longan, pineapple, watermelon, rambutan, papaya, jackfruit etc…) and lunch break.
We will then return to Cai Be by boat, and mount our bikes to enjoy pastoral scenery en route to Cai May church, and onto Hoa Khanh tiny village road to visit a brick kiln factory, continued cycling to Cai Be Catholic Church ( built in 1929-1932) famous with its unique steeple atop, visiting a coconut candy factory, a puffed rice factory. Take the opportunity to shop the popular coconut oil massage soap as souvenir before our bus pick us up and come back to Saigon. End of tour.

Photos and Video of Mekong delta cycling CaiBe one day.
During the end of rainy season (September – October), it floods around the island. But it does not happen anymore because there were too many dams on the Mekong rivers in China and Laos. This clip below was one of the last flood in 2013 !!
