Get started at 8:00 from your hotel, we start to CuChi Tunnels. See what life was like for the guerilla warriors who lived and found underground during the American war when you crawl through 50m of the 200km tunnel complex below CuChi. We also visit a rice paper workshop, see the rice paddy fields that stretch as far as the eye can see and enjoy the beautiful scenery in this part of the world. Then we drive back to Saigon with lunch break en route.
In the afternoon, we begin with a glimpse of downtown by new VoVanKiet avenue, see the Mong bridge : the olddest bridge in saigon ( 1893-1894). Driving along the river from Saigon to ChoLon – China town. We will stop at ThienHau pagoda – a 150 year old Chinese temple, then we walk along streets which sell all kinds of Vietnamese traditional medicine ( traditional medicine herbs). Back to district 1 to walk by Reunification Palace and admire the most magnificent French colonial monuments of the city such as NotreDame cathedral , the historic Central Post Office, walking down DongKhoi street to see the Opera House and the City Hall nearby the Rex hotel.
Contimue walking on Nguyen Hue street, we see the Customs Directorate: build 1885-1887 by the French architect Alfred Foulhoux. “The opium poppy decoration on the upper façade”. (also can be seen at People’s Law Court, and the HCM museum). Then we walk down HamNghi stret to see the old building of Saigon train station (build 1881 to 1885). Time to get in BenThanh market for soft drink sugar can juice. Time for shopping in market, then we finish the day and return to hotel around 18:00.

Right outside Saigon, you may find countryside fields with vegetables and rice. The locals in CuChi make rice paper for spring rolls, a popular refreshing appetizer for an Asian-inspired meal that you should not miss in Vietnam. A nice stop to see how they made it.
Since 1947 in the French war, the guerrillas in CuChi start to make an hidden room underground, they gradually extend it to a whole system of hundred kilometers underground tunnels.
Getting inside the CuChi tunnels and try a crawl 50 meters to experience it !! There are more challenge of very narrow underground levels that you may try. Please check with our guide for more options.
There are hidden entrances, trap doors, bomb shells and also military tanks attacked by the VC during the war time. Our guide will show you around these places.
Would you like to try shooting AK47 used by the VC or M16 rifle? There is a shooting range nearby and you can see these old stuff work !!
Back in Saigon for the city tour, we will visit ChoLon – China town market. The wholesale market was build by Chinese in 1928. See the old photo below here, you may find the remained building, but not the two wing block. It was tear down during 1998 – 2000.
We walk through the chaos traditional herbs market to a hidden site – ThienHau pagoda. Note the ceramic decoration on the roof top line, in the courtyard section where people burn incense to worship ThienHau.
It would be nice to walk from the front entrance to the main dais. You will see figures of ThienHau and Goddess LongMau and Protector of Mothers and Newborns. Many Chinese come to pray for health and good business. With a donation, you may have a Chinese guard to write your wish for stick on the wall or you can burn a two weeks-lasting incense with best wishes for your trip !!
What’s new for Saigon city tour?
New statue of President Ho Chi Minh made of copper alloy with a maximum height from the existing pavement is 7.2 m (4.5 m high statue, plinth height 2 7 m), made with a budget 7 billion dong. The other items in the construction are natural stone blocks.
To share space around the monument, the city expanded the existing park towards Le Thanh Ton street 12 m, extending to the rotation axis intersections Nguyen Hue – Le Loi 5 m. Layout of tree species is characterized, in accordance with the southern style.
After 7 months of construction at a cost of 430 billion dong, the upgrading and renovation of Nguyen Hue blvd first walk of the city has been completed. The most important item on country music, art lighting, green areas, especially park statue of President Ho Chi Minh has been finalized. At the request of city leaders, the area of Ho Chi Minh statue and Nguyen Hue walking blvd. will welcome visitors from 29th April 2015.
